Angela led the choirs of St. Joseph Parish Cottleville in an online Musical Lectio Divina. This was a beautiful and prayerful gathering, and was well-received by all. Following introductions and instructions, we read and meditated on a passage of sacred scripture, drawing out particular words and images. We then reflected on a chant based on that scripture and noted how the tune illustrates images in the text. We compared how an English translation and the original Latin setting were alike and different. We concluded by chanting the Magnificat, alternating between women and men.

Angela’s presentation was prayerful and instructive. Many of our choir members have no experience singing chant, but Angela’s engaging and approachable style helped everyone enter into the experience. She effectively adapted the content to meet the needs of our group. After the session, many who participated were intrigued to learn more and sent positive comments.
